Each month, we will profile a member of our team to let you get to know them a little better. This month, our spotlight is on one of our Loss Adjusters, Andy Gordon.
How did you first get into loss adjusting?
I entered the profession following 12 years’ working for Eagle Star/Zurich and then a year working for C E Heath Insurance Brokers. I joined Cunningham Lindsey in 2000 as a Commercial Adjuster, before moving on to GAB Robins as a Commercial Property Adjusting Manager in 2007.
How did you end up at Quadra?
I joined Quadra in 2014, having been approached by a number of former colleagues, whom I had worked with at GAB Robins to fill a vacant role in the London and East Anglia region. At the time, I was looking for new challenges and was very keen to join Quadra as I was attracted to the profile of the work and had been impressed by the positive feedback I had heard from former colleagues about the set up.
Tell us a bit about your work profile…
My work profile involves a good deal of time dealing with claims involving faith and listed heritage buildings as well as assisting London Market clients, an area of work that I enjoy greatly. I am also responsible for maintaining several key broker relationships in London and the South East.
As a specialist loss adjusting business, we have a strong commitment to brokers ensuring that we keep them fully updated in all cases and always advising them in the first instance of any potential policy issues. I enjoy developing and maintaining relationships with clients and hope in time to take on more account management responsibilities.
What about your professional membership and training?
I have a Diploma in Chartered Insurance Institute and am an Associate of both the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters and ILM Management. I’ve been on a range of interesting and useful courses including Asbestos Awareness, Indemnity Spend Reduction, Recoveries, Fraud, Treating Customers Fairly, Environmental Damage Control and Business Interruption.
Any other interesting experience?
I supported and assisted in a variety of major incidents, including 2005 Carlisle & 2007 Hull floods, 2007 Folkestone earthquake, various Midlands weather incidents and assistance to South West flooding.
What are your hobbies out of work?
I enjoy walking my dog in the forest near to my home and I am a season ticket holder to West Ham United, but don’t let that put you off me!
I have also started my training for a charity cycle ride from London to Brighton, which takes place in June 2017. Ditchling Hill – here I come!
