Each month, we profile a member of our team to let you get to know them a little better. This month, our spotlight is on one of our senior Loss Adjusters, David Brimblecombe ACII ACILA.
How did you get into loss adjusting?
I began my loss adjusting career as a trainee with Cunningham Hart in 1984, which was fantastic experience and a great place to learn and develop. After 12 years there I joined Multiassistance as one of four directors responsible for the start-up of the business in the UK. I had responsibility for all technical matters.
I turned down an offer of a contract from the UNCC in Geneva and took a break from loss adjusting, during which time I set up and ran my own business. Having sold one of my businesses, I was later enticed back into loss adjusting by GAB Robins in 2009 as a Regional Executive Adjusting Manager, where I managed a team of adjusters.
How did you end up at Quadra?
3 of the founding Directors of Quadra were partners at Cunningham Hart, who I knew from my 12 years there. When I heard that they were starting their business, it was an easy decision for me to join them as they were looking for an experienced Chartered Adjuster in my area on the Surrey/Sussex border. I have worked at Quadra now for over 5 years and the job continues to be very rewarding.
Tell us a bit about your work profile …
I specialise in HNW, Heritage and SME claims. I have a particular interest in claims involving fine wine which often fits well in the HNW arena.
I also enjoy claims involving owner-managed businesses where I have relevant experience and am aware of some of the immediate challenges that can be faced.
What about your professional membership and training?
I am an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA) and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Any other interesting experience?
As mentioned above, I have a special interest in fine wine. I actually set up and ran two wine-related businesses, and I hold the Wine & Spirit Education Trust “WSET” qualification – safe to say I am Quadra’s resident wine expert!
What are your hobbies out of work?
As well as my passion for wine, I have a keen interest in Karate and train every week. It helps to keep both body and mind fit!
